Grandma Queen of Golf She says I'm her favorite, but I can't tell anybody. She lives way out in Kapolei and I live in Aina Haina. We are two hours and many miles apart, but she is the closest person to me. We tell each other everything. I love Grandma. Grandma who loves red zinfandel. Grandma who drives two hours in her Mustang just to see me. Grandma who's the queen of golf. Grandma whose husband was born and died in Italy. And Grandma who would have a tattoo if it weren't so darn expensive. In the summer of 1969 when Grandma was thirty, she worked at the Hawaii Federal Credit Union. Her and her work friends traveled to Las Vegas on vacation for a week of golf. They all loved playing golf. I never understood the game. And I never thought it was very interesting to watch, but because Grandma loved it, I tried to love it too. On the last day of their trip, they all planned to get tattoos to remember the amazing times they had together. While discussing what was going to be on their bodies for the rest of their lives, Grandma had a genius idea. Golf ball on the belly button. Tee with a downward arrow under it. Thick black letters saying HOLE IN ONE. Yeah. How do I know this is so? She told me so because she is the best grandma and friend I have ever had. I love Grandma.FLOWER CHILD FOR LIFE!
